News & Insights

If you're on the board of a theological school, and you wait around long enough, it will be time for a visit from the accrediting team. And although preparing for an accrediting visit requires a lot from a president and staff, there's a role for the board too. If you need to get caught up on what is needed from board members, read “An accreditation primer for boards” from the Summer 2013 issue of In Trust magazine.

In Trust has written on the topic a number of times in the past. This particular treatment answers "What are the standards of the ATS Commission on Accrediting?" (Pro tip: There is more than one set of standards!) And it offers an introduction to preparing for a visit.

Even if you don’t have to renew your accreditation in the near future, this article may be a valuable addition to a board handbook. Be sure to read it!
