Four members of the In Trust Center board of directors were reelected recently to three-year terms. In the election held this fall, leaders of member schools reelected Ms. Debra Dunn Kellar, the Rev. Dr. Kah-Jin Jeffrey Kuan, the Rev. Dr. Alton B. Pollard, III, and Dr. Luis R. Rivera. There was a 46% response rate of eligible institutions.

Ms. Debra Dunn Kellar is vice president of finance and campus operations at Denver Seminary in Colorado. She also serves as the treasurer of the In Trust Center’s Board of Directors. 

Kellar was appointed to her role at the seminary in 2011. She served the seminary previously as associate vice president of finance from 2006 to 2011 and director of finance from 2000 to 2006. In her current position, Kellar oversees finance; accounting; risk management, safety, and compliance; information technology; housing and auxiliary services; human resources; and facilities. A certified public accountant, she is a graduate of the University of Kansas and New Mexico State University.

The Rev. Dr. Kah-Jin Jeffrey Kuan is the president of Claremont School of Theology in California. Kuan has served as president since 2013. Previously he was dean of Drew Theological School and served on the faculty of the Pacific School of Religion and the Graduate Theological Union. He is a graduate of Trinity Theological College in Singapore, Southern Methodist University, and Emory University.

An ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, Kuan has served as vice president and chair of the denomination’s Division of Higher Education, as a member of its University Senate, and as chair of its Commission on Theological Education. Additionally, he has served as chair of the board of trustees of the Foundation for Theological Education in Southeast Asia. He was previously chair of the Member Council of the Hispanic Theological Initiative.

The Rev. Dr. Alton B. Pollard III is the president of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

A graduate of Fisk University, Harvard Divinity School, and Duke University, Pollard served as dean of the Howard University School of Divinity from 2007 to 2017. He previously served in academic positions at St. Olaf College, Wake Forest University, and the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

Pollard is a past chair of the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools. He is co-editor of The Black Church Studies Reader and author of Mysticism and Social Change.

Dr. Luis R. Rivera is a senior scholar at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. He is also the secretary of the In Trust Center Board of Directors.

Rivera has worked in theological education since 1986, first on the faculty of the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico and then at McCormick Theological Seminary and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. He served as academic dean and vice president for academic affairs at Garrett-Evangelical from 2014-2019.

Prior to his teaching career, Rivera served as a Baptist lay minister in Puerto Rico. He has been a member of the United Methodist Church since 2004 and is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico, and Harvard Divinity School.
