ATS data shows that accredited theological schools in North America saw an increase in enrollment in fall 2020. However, by the following year, enrollment returned to pre-pandemic trends.

In the fall of 2020, 55% of ATS-accredited schools saw an increase in enrollment. However, the preliminary data from fall 2020 enrollment showed that 52% of schools saw a decrease. That is similar to enrollment data before the pandemic.

Chris Meinzer, senior director and chief operating officer, offers more insight on the data in ATS' Colloquy, which you can find here. The data includes 90% of the member schools that reported information. Meinzer notes that the data could change as a result.
