Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP), an Episcopal Seminary in Berkeley, California, committed to forming leaders called to find new ways to create Christian communities and share God’s love, announces the search for its next president & dean (president). Through its unique relationship with Trinity Church Wall Street and in close collaboration with diocesan, parish, and grassroots leaders, CDSP has developed a curricular and co-curricular academic model focused on Christian mission, discipleship, and evangelism and on core leadership skills of contextual awareness, critical reflection, and public conversation; established a popular hybrid degree option for students balancing family obligations or professional responsibilities, and established partnerships to create distance learning curricula for individual dioceses.
This is a moment of transformation for CDSP as it builds upon its storied tradition of seminary education with the unfolding of an educational model designed to prepare the Episcopal clergy of the future. Honoring its longstanding commitment to education, faith, and formation, CDSP will open doors for students from across the country to embark on the journey to ministry via a full hybrid educational model, beginning with the class entering in summer 2025. The already successful current low-residence hybrid educational model has paved the way for this next step which will consist of online learning, in-person intensives each year, and a fully funded post-graduation curacy program. This is an exceptional opportunity for a spiritually grounded academic and visionary leader to chart the future course of the seminary and shape its impact on the Episcopal Church.
The president of CDSP is a spiritually grounded academic and visionary leader who collaboratively guides CDSP in its mission to provide students with an experience that integrates scholarship, reflection, worship, spirituality, and the practice of ministry. Reporting to the CDSP Board of Trustees, and the rector of Trinity Church Wall Street who serves as chair of the Board of Trustees, the president and dean is the chief administrative and executive officer of CDSP and carries the academic vision for the institution. This individual is also a spiritual role model who fosters an environment where faculty, staff and students can thrive and experience spiritual and personal leadership to foster growth on their faith journeys.
