News & Insights

With insightful speeches, engaging conversations, and a few tears, the 2015 Development and Institutional Advancement Program (DIAP) conference was enlightening and educational. Your advancement staff members should consider going next year!

DIAP is a program of the Association of Theological Schools, and it provides seminary development officers with a mix of best practices and opportunities for peer learning. One of the highlights of the conference was a last-minute plenary from Kent Anderson, the president of Northwest Baptist Seminary, who spoke on “Creating a Culture of Generosity: Giving Before Getting.” Anderson’s remarks on the divine nature of generosity truly resonated.

Other highlights included a focus on interactive learning and conversation, futurist Richard Swenson’s advocacy for being better stewards of time, and an insightful perspective on fundraising from Cheryl Tupper of the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations.
