The Gift of Black Theological Education & Black Church Collaborative kicked off in January with a series of powerful presentations that have examined the history of and the need for the Black Church and the Black Seminary.
Presenters have included Princeton scholar Dr. Eddie S. Glaude, Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary President Dr. Alton B. Pollard III, and Rev. Dr. John W. Kinney, a longtime pastor and leader in theological education.
The Gift Collaborative has brought together leaders of Historically Black Theological Institutions, denominational leaders, scholars, and congregants to not only address racism and social issues but also build leadership capacity in congregations. The Gift Collaborative intends to inform a new generation of leaders engaged in building pathways forward in America.
It is a result of relationship development and collegiality among the Historically Black Theological Institutions, which have worked together for several years to build capacity and develop stronger futures.
Future presentations will include health disparities among Black Americans. More information, including past presentations and upcoming events, can be found at www.thegiftcollaborative.org.
