Leadership education at duke divinity school has plans to offer up to 30 Reflective Leadership Grants this year. The grants provide Christian leaders “balcony time” to reflect on accomplishments, broaden perspectives, and discern next steps. It’s an opportunity for structured reflection.

The grants provide $15,000 to encourage leaders to ask the questions, to discern issues that should be pursued, and to address opportunities and challenges in the next phase of ministry where their personal and organizational lives meet.

Ideal applicants are lay or clergy leaders of Christian organizations, specifically those organizations that are advancing their mission following the complex opportunities and challenges that emerged and/or intensified throughout the past few years of the pandemic and its aftermath.

Leaders from a range of roles – and who are working in a variety of organizations ranging from denominations, seminaries and church-related colleges to consultancies, congregations, Christian nonprofits, Christian social enterprises and others – are welcome to make an application for positions such as project director and senior administrator.

While all leaders are encouraged to practice some form of ongoing reflection, this grant aims to support those leaders whose work has made a demonstrable contribution to their organization’s mission. These leaders are at a pivotal moment for stepping back to assess their ministry, evaluate organizational progress, and chart the next steps in their personal and ministry journey. The grant allows leaders to broaden their perspectives and gain clarity about what needs to happen next in their personal and professional lives.

The application deadline is May 2, 2025.
